Welcome! I am a Research Fellow at the University of Potsdam, working on the ENSURED project, and a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University. My research interests lie in the Political Economy of International Institution/Organizations with a focus on human rights.
In my research, I study the design and effectiveness of International Institutions and Organizations in protecting and promoting human rights. My dissertation examines how gender equality provisions are incorporated into trade agreements, focusing on the influence of women in top leadership positions and international negotiation contexts.
I have several other working projects that reflect my substantive and methodological interests. In my co-authored project on official state visits by the United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG), I ask some crucial yet unexplored questions related to the effectiveness of UN diplomacy such as how the UNSG state visits influnece human rights conditions and foreign aid allocations (in-progress), using the original dataset of UNSG travel information. Some of my other co-authored working projects use network analysis to examine the relationship between trade and conflict, and the effect of US foreign policy on international cooperation.
